Wrong babies?

It is has been reported by different studies that 100,000 to 500,000 newborns are accidentally switched at birth every year -- and given to wrong parents! According to the 1998 Edition of the Tanderberg Report, (an annual medical study by sociologist Dr. Morton Tanderberg, and as reported by Ann Victoria in Weekly World News, p. 22, on 9-8-98), 500,000 or 1 out of every 8 babies born in American hospitals is sent home with the wrong parents. In many cases, these oversights are caught and corrected within a few days and the babies are returned to their mothers. But on the other end of the scale, Dr. Tanderberg says that in some overcrowded facilities, particularly in large metropolitan areas like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, the number of switched babies could be considerably higher -- possibly as high as 3 out of 8.

This is weired because it is happening in USA, you would think something like this happens in Africa.

Elephant's can'tJump!

Most experts think it is physiologically impossible for a mature elephant to jump, although baby elephants have been known to do so, if provoked.

Not only do mature elephants weigh too much to support landing on all fours, but their legs are designed for strength rather than leaping ability. Mark Grunwald, who has worked with elephants for more than a decade at the Philadelphia Zoo, notes that elephant’s bone structure makes it difficult for them to bend their legs sufficiently to derive enough force to propel the big lugs up.

Yet there are a few sightings of elephants jumping in the wild. Veterinarian Judy Provo found two books in her college library that illustrate the discrepancy. S. K. Ettingham’s Elephant lays out the conventional thinking: “… because of its great weight, an elephant cannot jump or even run in the accepted sense since it must keep one foot on the ground at all times.”

The elephant is one of the few mammals that can't jump

Colgate in spansih speaking countries

Colgate-Palmolive Company is an American diversified multinational corporation focused on the production, distribution and provision of household, health care and personal products, such as soaps, detergents, and oral hygiene products (including toothpaste and toothbrushes). Under its "Hill's" brand, it is also a manufacturer of veterinary products.

Colgate which in most part of the world is to be know as the only kind of toothpaste; Is $9 billion industry. In 1806, William Colgate, himself a soap and candle maker, opened up a starch, soap, and candle factory on Dutch Street in New York City under the name of "William Colgate & Company". In the 1840s, the firm began selling individual bars in uniform weights. In 1857, William Colgate died and the company was reorganized as "Colgate & Company" under the management of Samuel Colgate, his son.

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the "B.J. Johnson Company" was making a soap entirely of palm and olive oil, the formula of which was developed by B.J. Johnson in 1898. The soap was popular enough to rename their company after it - "Palmolive". At the turn of the century Palmolive, which contained both palm and olive oils, was the world's best-selling soap, and extensive advertising included The Palmolive Hour, a weekly radio concert program which began in 1927. A Kansas based soap manufacturer known as the "Peet Brothers" merged with Palmolive to become Palmolive-Peet. In 1928, Palmolive-Peet bought the Colgate Company to create the Colgate-Palmolive-Peet Company. In 1953 "Peet" was dropped from the title, leaving only "Colgate-Palmolive Company", the current name.

The one interesting obstacle Colgate had was when they start distributing there products to Spanish speaking countries. The reason being that Colgate means "go hang yourself" in Spanish. colgar (in Spanish) means to hang, and if you add "te" to the end of any verb, it means "to yourself". Henge, Colgate is "go hang yourself". So you can see how hard it is to sell a product that tells you to commit suicide. lol

Harley Davidson Motorcycle and empty tomato CAN

Harley-Davidson (often abbreviated H-D or Harley) is an American motorcycle manufacturer. Founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the first decade of the 20th century, it was one of two major American manufacturers to survive the Great Depression. Harley-Davidson also survived a media-accelerated negative image of motorcyclists, a period of poor quality control, and competition with Japanese manufacturers.

The company sells heavyweight (over 750 cc) motorcycles designed for cruising on the highway. Harley-Davidson motorcycles (popularly known as "Harleys") have a distinctive design and exhaust note. They are especially noted for the tradition of heavy customization that gave rise to the chopper-style of motorcycle.[5] Except for the modern VRSC model family, current Harley-Davidson motorcycles reflect the styles of classic Harley designs. Harley-Davidson's attempts to establish itself in the light motorcycle market have met with limited success and have largely been abandoned since the 1978 sale of its Italian Aermacchi subsidiary.

The Harley-Davidson motorcycle was conceived in the early 1900s. Harley and a machinist friend, Arthur Davidson, designed the initial “motorized bicycle” in 1901. They were interested in creating an alternative that “took the work out of bicycling.” The first Harley-Davidson motorcycle had a single-cylinder engine, went no faster than 25 miles-per-hour, and used an empty tomato CAN for a carburetor. Davidson’s aunt created the later famous black and red logo and painted it on the first bike.

The help of two other Davidson brothers was enlisted to replicate the bike. By 1903, the first three machines were completed and sold by the C.H. Lang dealership of Chicago. The foursome launched the business in a backyard garage.

Building a motorcycle in the early 1900s presented challenges that the partners had to overcome, many similar to what Henry Ford and R.E. Olds were facing with manufacturing the automobile. Parts were not pre-made and had to be created from existing materials. This was an extremely labor-intensive task that took quite a lot of time. Gas stations had not yet been established, so fueling was a problem. Gas could only be purchased by the pint and only at drugstores.

Regardless of these difficulties and inconveniences, the business grew quickly and the bikes gained a reputation as a sturdy and reliable machine for getting around. The company built its headquarters in 1906 and incorporated in 1907, the same year that the four partners produced 150 machines. By 1910 the company employed 149 people. The four partners continued to speed production and managed to become one of the largest producers of motorcycles in America by 1915.

Cockroaches stay alive after you cut the head off!

The reason an organism dies when the head is cut off is because the brain stops regulating the body's functions. The simpler the organ, the less the brain actually has to do. So when a human's head is cut off, all the organs basically start shutting down. The head dies in like thirty seconds because it isn't receiving oxygen through the blood and the body dies in a similar time (I think) because there's nothing regulating it's functions.

On a cockroach, The cockroach brain is spread throughout its body. The head holds a bit of a nervous system, while the rest of the brain is scattered along the ventral (belly-side) part of its body. So, now you understand that if you cut off the head of a roach, it will still live for as long as one week; eventually dying from starvation or thirst

Las Vegas Casinos

Whenever you think of gambling or casinos, the first thing that comes to mind is Las Vegas. But did you knew that the casino owners spend million every year researching on how they can make you stay there and spend more and more money. We all know most of them in fact all of them offer free refreshments like ice cold sodas, they even bring it to your sit specially when you start loosing big amounts of $$$.

The one thing you never notice is that there is no clocks or windows -- they do not want you to interrupt your losing streak by realizing how much time has passed. Of course, we've all heard the legend that some of the casinos pump in fresh oxygen to keep the players from getting tired and wanting to pack it in.

The veracity of this is hard to confirm, but we can only hope it's true, especially when we think of that time we looked up after a long stretch of gambling and discovered it was Thursday.
Don't be a snob, and don't be overly dazzled by the fancy casinos.
