Giraff's baby falls from 6 ft at birth!

The tallest of all land-living animal species, and the largest ruminant. It is covered in large, irregular patches of yellow to black fur separated by white, off-white, or dark yellowish brown background. The average mass for an adult male giraffe is 1,191 kilograms (2,630 lb) while the average mass for an adult female is 828 kilograms (1,830 lb).[3][4] It is approximately 4.3 metres (14 ft) to 5.2 metres (17 ft) tall, although the tallest male recorded stood almost 6 metres (20 ft).

Giraffes usually inhabit savannas, grasslands, or open woodlands. However, when food is scarce they will venture into areas with denser vegetation. They prefer areas with plenty of acacia growth. They will drink large quantities of water when available, which enables them to live for extended periods in dry, arid areas.

The mother gives birth standing up and the embryonic sack usually bursts when the baby falls to the ground. which is normally about a height of six to Seven feet, normally without being hurt. Newborn giraffes are about 1.8 m (6 ft) tall.

Within a few hours of being born, calves can run around and are indistinguishable from a week-old calf; however, for the first two weeks, they spend most of their time lying down, guarded by the mother. The young can fall prey to lions, leopards, spotted hyenas, and wild dogs. It has been speculated that their characteristic spotted pattern provides a certain degree of camouflage. Only 25 to 50% of giraffe calves reach adulthood; the life expectancy is between 20 and 25 years in the wild and 28 years in captivity.

Guinness Book of Records stolen!

he Guinness Book of Records was launched by twin brothers Norris and Ross McWhirter in 1954. They were born in August 1925 at Winchmore Hill, London, the sons of William Allan McWhirter, managing director of Associated Newspapers and Northcliffe Newspapers Group.. Both went to the same college, both were outstanding track athletes, and both served in the Royal Naval in WWII.

To date, more than 100 million copies of the 400 editions of Guinness Book of Records have been sold in some 40 languages, making it one of the world's all-time best-selling copyright book. But Guinness Book of Records also holds the record for being the book most often stolen from Public Libraries. Very weird but it is the number one stolen book in the world.

Yes it is true the Webster dictionary that was printed in 1996 had 315 entries misspelled. It took a group of people who set out to find this mistakes over three weeks to find this 315 entries. Which means that if they have done it prior to 1996 they would have probably found more on the earlier versions as well, and who know maybe even know! Because this was the first time they tried this and they were lucky enough to find 315 of them. and according to Webster dictionary misspelled means

The US and McDonalds, and Obesity

The United States has the world's highest number of McDonald’s restaurants per capita.

Americans also die of obesity more often than any other nation, with more deaths than Mexico, Germany, Spain, Austria and Canada combined.

There are about 304 million people in the united states as of July 2008, and there are about 34 thousandths McDonald's in the USA. That is 1 McDonald's per 8941 people. That is more McDonald's than any country in the world, and McDonald's also claims that 25 percent of their income comes from sale of Happy Meal, and 20 percent from there number 1 menu Big Mac meal. This does not take a rocket scientist to see why more American are obese and the die due to high cholesterol and heart attacks.

Jumbo Jet uses aboout 4,000 gallons of fuel to take off !!

The aircraft burns a lot of fuel when taking off since it takes quite a lot of energy to get a 400 ton plane moving. But once it is up in the thin air and cruising at 500MPH, it is burning less fuel per-person than an economy car (and going a lot faster).Think of it this way Something huge like a boeing 747 would take much more fuel to take off with all that weight.

For example a Boeing 747 jet engine swallows a gallon or so of fuel every 2 seconds at about 90 percent throttle (take off) so take this and multiply it by the average runway roll out even the 747 is airborne in under 60 seconds so do the math per 1 engine, and at max load needs about 10,000 feet to take off; takes off in about 55 seconds.
here is the calculation
(55 take off seconds / 2 second for every gallon)=27.5 seconds
(27.5 seconds X 1 gallon)=27.5 Gallons
(27.5 gallons X 4 Engine)=110 Gallons
So it takes 110 gallons just to take from standing at the runway to lift off. but an average it would be siting there for more than 2 hour while loading and waiting for clearance to the taxi way and take off. During this time it would take about gallon of gas every 8 seconds. which would roughly be around 3500 gallons to 5000 gallons depending on weather and other conditions.

Boing 747 wingspan and the wright brothers

The Boeing 747 truly represents the current peak of passenger aircraft development. At 150 feet, the 747's economy section alone is longer than the Wright Brothers' first flight at Kitty Hawk. It is the largest passenger jet currently in service, seating up to 524 people. With a width of over 19 feet, the 747 appears from inside the cabin to be enclosed by nearly vertical fuselage walls. The plane can stay aloft for 17-hour flights, storing fuel in the tail structure as well as in the wings and fuselage. With a range of 8,430 statute miles, the 747 can easily connect such far-flung cities as Los Angeles-to-Hong Kong, San Francisco-to-Sydney and Singapore-to-London.

Chocolate and Dogs

While the pathetic begging look that goes across the face of a dog wanting chocolate can weaken the most stoic dog owner, stay firm. Do not give in. Ever.Once dogs have tasted chocolate, they want more. And for dogs, that's a bad thing. You might disagree, thinking back to a time when you noticed a dog enjoying a tidbit of chocolate with no deleterious effect. Don't be fooled.

The problem, according to veterinary experts, is that eating a speck of chocolate leads a dog to crave more. It can mean that your dog will jump at a opportunity to get any type of chocolate, not knowing that certain chocolates are more lethal than other types. Larger amounts of chocolate, particularly of the most toxic type, can bring about epileptic seizures in some dogs, and in all dogs, can kill.

Chocolate contains theobromine. A naturally occurring stimulant found in the cocoa bean, theobromine increases urination and affects the central nervous system as well as heart muscle. While amounts vary by type of chocolate, it's the theobromine that is poisonous to dogs.

You can recognize that your dog has eaten a toxic dose of chocolate from the symptoms. Within the first few hours, the evidence includes vomiting, diarrhea or hyperactivity. As time passes and there's increased absorption of the toxic substance, you'll see an increase in the dog's heart rate, which can cause arrhythmia, restlessness, hyperactivity, muscle twitching, increased urination or excessive panting.

This can lead to hyperthermia, muscle tremors, seizures, coma and even death.

Wrong babies?

It is has been reported by different studies that 100,000 to 500,000 newborns are accidentally switched at birth every year -- and given to wrong parents! According to the 1998 Edition of the Tanderberg Report, (an annual medical study by sociologist Dr. Morton Tanderberg, and as reported by Ann Victoria in Weekly World News, p. 22, on 9-8-98), 500,000 or 1 out of every 8 babies born in American hospitals is sent home with the wrong parents. In many cases, these oversights are caught and corrected within a few days and the babies are returned to their mothers. But on the other end of the scale, Dr. Tanderberg says that in some overcrowded facilities, particularly in large metropolitan areas like New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, the number of switched babies could be considerably higher -- possibly as high as 3 out of 8.

This is weired because it is happening in USA, you would think something like this happens in Africa.

Elephant's can'tJump!

Most experts think it is physiologically impossible for a mature elephant to jump, although baby elephants have been known to do so, if provoked.

Not only do mature elephants weigh too much to support landing on all fours, but their legs are designed for strength rather than leaping ability. Mark Grunwald, who has worked with elephants for more than a decade at the Philadelphia Zoo, notes that elephant’s bone structure makes it difficult for them to bend their legs sufficiently to derive enough force to propel the big lugs up.

Yet there are a few sightings of elephants jumping in the wild. Veterinarian Judy Provo found two books in her college library that illustrate the discrepancy. S. K. Ettingham’s Elephant lays out the conventional thinking: “… because of its great weight, an elephant cannot jump or even run in the accepted sense since it must keep one foot on the ground at all times.”

The elephant is one of the few mammals that can't jump

Colgate in spansih speaking countries

Colgate-Palmolive Company is an American diversified multinational corporation focused on the production, distribution and provision of household, health care and personal products, such as soaps, detergents, and oral hygiene products (including toothpaste and toothbrushes). Under its "Hill's" brand, it is also a manufacturer of veterinary products.

Colgate which in most part of the world is to be know as the only kind of toothpaste; Is $9 billion industry. In 1806, William Colgate, himself a soap and candle maker, opened up a starch, soap, and candle factory on Dutch Street in New York City under the name of "William Colgate & Company". In the 1840s, the firm began selling individual bars in uniform weights. In 1857, William Colgate died and the company was reorganized as "Colgate & Company" under the management of Samuel Colgate, his son.

In Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the "B.J. Johnson Company" was making a soap entirely of palm and olive oil, the formula of which was developed by B.J. Johnson in 1898. The soap was popular enough to rename their company after it - "Palmolive". At the turn of the century Palmolive, which contained both palm and olive oils, was the world's best-selling soap, and extensive advertising included The Palmolive Hour, a weekly radio concert program which began in 1927. A Kansas based soap manufacturer known as the "Peet Brothers" merged with Palmolive to become Palmolive-Peet. In 1928, Palmolive-Peet bought the Colgate Company to create the Colgate-Palmolive-Peet Company. In 1953 "Peet" was dropped from the title, leaving only "Colgate-Palmolive Company", the current name.

The one interesting obstacle Colgate had was when they start distributing there products to Spanish speaking countries. The reason being that Colgate means "go hang yourself" in Spanish. colgar (in Spanish) means to hang, and if you add "te" to the end of any verb, it means "to yourself". Henge, Colgate is "go hang yourself". So you can see how hard it is to sell a product that tells you to commit suicide. lol

Harley Davidson Motorcycle and empty tomato CAN

Harley-Davidson (often abbreviated H-D or Harley) is an American motorcycle manufacturer. Founded in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, during the first decade of the 20th century, it was one of two major American manufacturers to survive the Great Depression. Harley-Davidson also survived a media-accelerated negative image of motorcyclists, a period of poor quality control, and competition with Japanese manufacturers.

The company sells heavyweight (over 750 cc) motorcycles designed for cruising on the highway. Harley-Davidson motorcycles (popularly known as "Harleys") have a distinctive design and exhaust note. They are especially noted for the tradition of heavy customization that gave rise to the chopper-style of motorcycle.[5] Except for the modern VRSC model family, current Harley-Davidson motorcycles reflect the styles of classic Harley designs. Harley-Davidson's attempts to establish itself in the light motorcycle market have met with limited success and have largely been abandoned since the 1978 sale of its Italian Aermacchi subsidiary.

The Harley-Davidson motorcycle was conceived in the early 1900s. Harley and a machinist friend, Arthur Davidson, designed the initial “motorized bicycle” in 1901. They were interested in creating an alternative that “took the work out of bicycling.” The first Harley-Davidson motorcycle had a single-cylinder engine, went no faster than 25 miles-per-hour, and used an empty tomato CAN for a carburetor. Davidson’s aunt created the later famous black and red logo and painted it on the first bike.

The help of two other Davidson brothers was enlisted to replicate the bike. By 1903, the first three machines were completed and sold by the C.H. Lang dealership of Chicago. The foursome launched the business in a backyard garage.

Building a motorcycle in the early 1900s presented challenges that the partners had to overcome, many similar to what Henry Ford and R.E. Olds were facing with manufacturing the automobile. Parts were not pre-made and had to be created from existing materials. This was an extremely labor-intensive task that took quite a lot of time. Gas stations had not yet been established, so fueling was a problem. Gas could only be purchased by the pint and only at drugstores.

Regardless of these difficulties and inconveniences, the business grew quickly and the bikes gained a reputation as a sturdy and reliable machine for getting around. The company built its headquarters in 1906 and incorporated in 1907, the same year that the four partners produced 150 machines. By 1910 the company employed 149 people. The four partners continued to speed production and managed to become one of the largest producers of motorcycles in America by 1915.

Cockroaches stay alive after you cut the head off!

The reason an organism dies when the head is cut off is because the brain stops regulating the body's functions. The simpler the organ, the less the brain actually has to do. So when a human's head is cut off, all the organs basically start shutting down. The head dies in like thirty seconds because it isn't receiving oxygen through the blood and the body dies in a similar time (I think) because there's nothing regulating it's functions.

On a cockroach, The cockroach brain is spread throughout its body. The head holds a bit of a nervous system, while the rest of the brain is scattered along the ventral (belly-side) part of its body. So, now you understand that if you cut off the head of a roach, it will still live for as long as one week; eventually dying from starvation or thirst

Las Vegas Casinos

Whenever you think of gambling or casinos, the first thing that comes to mind is Las Vegas. But did you knew that the casino owners spend million every year researching on how they can make you stay there and spend more and more money. We all know most of them in fact all of them offer free refreshments like ice cold sodas, they even bring it to your sit specially when you start loosing big amounts of $$$.

The one thing you never notice is that there is no clocks or windows -- they do not want you to interrupt your losing streak by realizing how much time has passed. Of course, we've all heard the legend that some of the casinos pump in fresh oxygen to keep the players from getting tired and wanting to pack it in.

The veracity of this is hard to confirm, but we can only hope it's true, especially when we think of that time we looked up after a long stretch of gambling and discovered it was Thursday.
Don't be a snob, and don't be overly dazzled by the fancy casinos.
